Fall Harvest Pumpkin Centrepiece

My kitchen has a large centre island and every season I create a new centrepiece for it that goes with my ever-changing decor. I like to use the same footed-wooden tray, but change the flowers and materials to match my most recent colour scheme or upcoming holiday. You can find some of my other centrepiece designs here, here and here.

This year I decided to try something different and went with a cool toned aubergine and neutral colour scheme for my fall decor. I usually gravitate toward bright, colourful displays, but this year I decided to go with dark and moody tones! I have carried this scheme throughout both my indoor and outdoor decor to create a sense of flow as you enter our home. If you are interested in checking out the rest of my fall home decor, you can find my fall planters (here), fall wreath (here) or fall porch (here).

This seasonal Fall Harvest Centrepiece is created from a combination of real and faux items. I have included real white and off-white Baby Boo Pumpkins, faux seasonal pumpkin and berry bud florals (also in my Harvest Pumpkin Door Wreath), an aubergine eucalyptus branch and three deep wine coloured berry bunches in the arrangement. As always I like to weave in some twinkle lights to create that sense of soft light and ambience for evenings or small gatherings when everyone is huddled around the island in the kitchen - it's usually where the snacks are! Twinkle lights are magic when just-barely visible in an arrangement. They are the finishing touch.

Whether you find the same materials I used to make your own Fall Harvest Pumpkin Centrepiece or you design your own, let me know what you think in the comments below! I look forward to hearing from you.

Happy Harvest,

Fall Harvest Pumpkin Centrepiece

Materials

1 wooden tray

1 piece of dry floral foam

dried moss (I went for a neutral brown tone to blend in with the arrangement)

1 multi-colour pumpkin spray (from Michael's Craft Store)

1 neutral fall berry bunch (from Michael's Craft Store)

3 white baby boo pumpkins (the minis)

1 bunch of faux aubergine eucalyptus (from Michael's Craft Store)

1 faux wine berry brand (Dollar Store)

1 string of warm white (or soft white) twinkle lights

Method

Fill the tray bed with floral foam. Cover the foam so it is no longer visible with the dried moss (a little goes a long way).

As the centrepiece is visible from all sides, start arranging with the larger items - the multi-coloured pumpkin spray and the baby boo pumpkins, turning the tray as you arrange. Try to group the items in 3's. When you are happy with placement and visibility, push branch and spray stems into floral foam for stability.

For balance, divide the neutral berry branch and placed each half diagonally across from each other (top right and below left, as in image below). Fill in remaining holes using eucalyptus branches and berries. It's okay if you still see a bit of the moss underneath, it provides a grounding to the centrepiece.

Lastly, weave warm white (or soft white) LED twinkle lights around and in between the arrangement items. I try to hide the wire, so that only the soft glow of the light in-between and underneath the arrangement is visible.

Tip: Make sure to leave the twinkle light battery pack somewhere that is accessible, but not visible. I position the battery pack underneath the centrepiece between the tray legs so that I can easily turn the lights on and off, yet the pack is not out in the open.
